Creation Process

Synesthesia: Influence of music in my art

The creation of my artwork evolves in a process intertwined with my synesthesia. Music consists of frequencies and wavelengths, as well as colors. My perception of sound is translated from one medium to another with synesthesia, kinesthesia as well as my feeling and other senses. Synesthesia of sound, color and form: It is the color impression produced by sound, or the musical impression produced by shape or color. In short, the perception of sound is transformed into color and shape. The process feels something like when all the senses begin to merge at the same time and become one. High notes, for example, which we often encounter in the music of “Chopin,” sound yellowish or pastel to me, rather than dark brown or ocher. Frequencies are the common language for me. Our human body consists of about 70 – 85 percent water, depending on the individual and age. Particles and water vibrate differently with different frequencies. There is much more to discover in this area and I am very curious. In order to achieve a multi-dimensional experience, I decided to use an acrylic surface, which with its smooth surface is perceived as a contrast to the structural relief of my creations. The bold colors I use in the process are composed by myself using color pigments and provide my intense and optimistic vision of our common future either with a “green spirit on earth” or “adventurous in space”. As a synesthete, I paint the music I hear.

How I create my artworks

As a self-taught and multifaceted enthusiast, my approach is “playful” in discovering and exploring new subject areas. I have fun in the process and linking different areas. Sequences of my artworks are photographed by me with a digital camera (in cooperation with “Leica”) and then digitally processed. This way of looking and approaching has opened a new level for my creativity. In a finished work thus many individual works slumber until the “final”, for me in the synesthetic overall impression, interplay with the music balanced and my inspiration corresponding work of art is complete.

Materials (excerpt): Music, drawings, acrylic, oil, color pigments, marble powder, champagne chalk, sand, watercolor, ink, ink, chalks, honey beeswax, various materials that I encounter in everyday life, photography, digital processing using other software.

Goal, motivation and philosophy

The goal is an energetically harmonious work which, beginning with the choice of music (energy, frequencies, wavelengths), through color composition (energy, frequencies, wavelengths) to the completed form and composition, gives the viewer optimistic impressions and invites him to experience his creative form of consciousness. Those who experience their particular form of consciousness often describe it as, “It’s like arriving in your secret garden.” My desire, through my artwork and creative facilitation with ARTSCIENCE, is to invite people to experience this state of mind personally and as a shared experience. My artworks are usually “untitled” and receive their “titles” as they journey through the feedback loop of inspiration and the conscious perception of the viewer – the conscious perception to my “unconscious play”. It’s about “playing,” about “being in the moment.” It’s a musical thing and we are meant to sing, dance or paint while the music is playing. My artworks are a manifestation of the play of my subconscious and look forward to meeting your conscious perception and creative contribution to get names in digital as well as physical art exhibitions and fairs.
